October 10-19, 1954's continuation of the great French UFO flap, archived by date.
1954: October 10th – 19th
UFO|UAP & Entity Sightings Archive
This stretch of October opens with an extraordinary follow-up: four days after his now-famous Quarouble encounter, Marius Dewilde met the same craft’s crew again — this time smiling, gentle with his young son, and departing with nothing more sinister than a borrowed chicken. Elsewhere, a sighting near Vernose-en-Annonay left a witness with an unexplained physical ailment that would outlast the encounter itself by two full decades, while entities at Reims and Fabriano offered some of this wave’s richest physical and linguistic detail yet. This archive also preserves, exactly as the record states them, two cases its own sources flagged as likely pranks and one flagged outright as a hoax — proof this wave’s chroniclers exercised real judgment, not uncritical collection.

A separate luminous ball detached and traveled a different direction. A second witness, Mr. Josse, saw the object depart.

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
A Wave With Its Own Built-In Skepticism
This stretch of the French flap is defined as much by its self-correcting sources as by its striking cases. Alongside the second Quarouble encounter’s warmth and the two-decade medical mystery left behind at Vernose-en-Annonay, this period’s own compilers flagged three separate entries — Montlucon, Bourrasole, and Cape Massulo — as probable pranks or an outright hoax. This archive preserves those judgments exactly as made, evidence that even at the height of a genuine wave, contemporary researchers were exercising real critical discernment rather than accepting every report uncritically.
“The humanoid then tapped Dewilde on his back several times, smiling as he did and then pronounced several unintelligible words.”
— Jacques Vallee, “Passport to Magonia,” on the October 10, 1954 Quarouble, France encounter
