Summary: A man identified only as “L.B.” was returning home on an isolated road after an evening playing checkers with neighbors when he noticed a bright light and metallic-sounding noises near a farm. Approaching, thinking he had stumbled onto a clandestine still operation, he instead found a luminous disc about 6 meters in diameter, hovering roughly a meter and a half off the ground. Beside it, illuminated by the light, stood a well-built, youthful figure about 1.6 meters tall in phosphorescent clothing, wearing a leather mask with two eye-holes that ended just under the mouth. The figure spoke words in an unknown language resembling German. A second, smaller figure with a larger, hood-covered head then emerged from beneath the craft; it pointed a flashlight-like device at the witness, who felt instantly paralyzed but remained able to see and hear. This second figure approached, touched the witness with deformed, arthritic-looking fingers, briefly removed its hood to reveal a wrinkled, immobile face with two black eyes set at different heights, then replaced the hood. Both figures spoke loudly to each other, returned to the craft, and entered via a small retractable ladder; the witness then blacked out and did not see the object depart.

Summary: A woman recalled that, as a six-year-old girl, she saw what she took for an airplane in a clover field near her home; approaching, she found it had neither wings nor wheels but was oval-shaped, silvery gray at both ends and black in the center, with an open doorway. Four beings moved “awkwardly” around it, not much taller than she was, wearing bright green outfits with hoods leaving only an oval portion of their faces bare; their eyes appeared strange and immobile. She approached and engaged in what she now believes was telepathic conversation, though she does not recall its content, before a sudden fear overtook her and she fled, glancing back to see the object take off slowly and smoothly. A lasting fear of the site and an association between normal aircraft and the memory persisted for some time afterward.

Under hypnosis years later, she recalled being inside a round, domed room filled with instruments, hearing a faint hum and smelling something like clean ozone. Lying on a couch, she reported seeing several tall, thin, hairless beings with large heads, large eyes, and long slender fingers, all apparently male, with a shorter figure who seemed to be their leader; all wore gray, tight-fitting suits with helmets. She recalled a lengthy communication with a friendly “older” being who provided a great deal of information, and recalled a blood sample being taken from her.

Summary: Mrs. Mason Vaughan, at her well, heard a humming sound like a swarm of bees and saw an aluminum-like, lens-shaped disc, 8 to 10 feet in diameter, land in her backyard field. From an open cockpit at its center, a man wearing unusual goggles or a headpiece looked out; seemingly surprised to be seen, he immediately took off again, colliding in his diagonal departure with an oak tree and breaking off a limb. A depression was left in the ground at the landing site.

Summary: A man reading on the shady porch of his house glanced up from his book and saw a formation of perhaps a dozen spherical, iridescent objects traveling toward the distant mountains. Those at the front of the procession seemed to vanish instantly while others appeared out of nowhere to join the rear. Measuring them against the mountain background, he decided they were “immense” and moved at fantastic speed, covering the thirty or so miles to the mountains in five or six seconds. Still numb from shock, he heard a faint “Hello” and looked up to realize that a little girl across the street was blowing soap bubbles. This is an anecdote told in a popular book about flying saucers, with no named witness.

Summary: Taxi driver Frank James, on his way to work, saw a dull gray object hovering over the main railway lines into the city of Sydney, along with many other people on the street who looked up at it. He said a “grill” on the underside rotated slowly and that arms were withdrawn when the object moved off. As soon as he reached work he drew sketches of the object while the details were fresh; the drawing was later found among the papers of his friend Sam Kaufman.

The Vassan, Quebec masked-entity case stands out for its level of physical detail and is preserved here as a single merged entry after two versions of the same case, differing in narrative depth but not core content, appeared separately in earlier records of this page.

Three entries here rest on unusual sources. The Redfern, Australia sketch is a contemporaneous drawing made by a witness within hours of seeing the object, which is rarer in this log than a memory recorded years later. The Fort Collins, Colorado letter comes from a Blue Book folder and is a single witness’s recollection of a month but not a day. The Denver “Summer 1950” soap-bubble account is a popular-book anecdote filed by Blue Book as information only, preserved here because it shows how a startling report can end in a mundane explanation.
