Summary/Description: At a local farm called “Dolores” a farm worker, Caridad Martinez reported seeing a strange winged humanoid descend from the sky and land on a plot a land near where she was working. The strange winged figure approached Martinez and communicated with her in a strange language, which she could not understand, according to her the only word she was able to make out was “Tierra” (Earth).
The strange humanoid was carrying on both hands a luminous object which apparently emitted a strange gaseous substance that made Martinez very dizzy and almost semi-conscious.
She further described the stranger as having yellowish skin a round face, very tall in stature (over 7ft). The humanoid had a silvery disc-shaped plate which appeared to be attached to the stomach area. The most bizarre fact of the encounter was the huge pair of wings which the humanoid had attached to its shoulders that hung down to the waist area. 1952 Remedios Cuba UFO Encounter: The Winged Humanoid of Santa Clara
In the annals of Caribbean ufology, few cases are as visually distinct as the September 14, 1952, encounter in Remedios, Cuba. This Close Encounter of the Third Kind (CE-III) involved a lone witness and a highly unusual entity that defies standard “Grey” or “Nordic” classifications.
Encounter at “Dolores” Farm
The incident took place during the afternoon at a local farm known as “Dolores.” A farm worker, Caridad Martinez, was performing her daily tasks when she witnessed a strange object or figure descending rapidly from the sky. As it landed on a nearby plot of land, Martinez found herself face-to-face with a towering, seven-foot-tall winged humanoid.
The entity reportedly approached Martinez and attempted to communicate. While the majority of the speech was in an unintelligible, strange language, Martinez claimed the only word she could clearly identify was “Tierra” (Earth). During the interaction, the humanoid held a luminous object in both hands that emitted a strange gaseous substance. This vapor caused Martinez to become dizzy and semi-conscious, a common physical effect reported in high-strangeness Cuba Sightings.
Physical Description: The “Winged” Stranger
Martinez provided a detailed description of the visitor to investigator Orestes Girbau Collado. The entity featured:
-
Stature: Over 7 feet tall with yellowish skin and a perfectly round face.
-
Attire: A silvery, disc-shaped plate was prominently attached to the stomach/chest area.
-
The Wings: The most extraordinary feature was a pair of massive wings attached to the shoulders that extended down to the waist.
After the brief communication, the creature utilized its wings to rise back into the sky, disappearing from sight as quickly as it had arrived.
Conclusion: A Unique Winged Archetype
The Remedios encounter is a significant case for researchers focusing on the “Winged Humanoid” archetype. Unlike modern sightings of the “Mothman,” this 1952 report describes a being with structured gear (the silver plate) and verbal, albeit alien, communication. Because the report was preserved by local investigators, it remains a cornerstone of Cuba’s UFO history, providing a rare look at the diversity of entities reported during the global 1952 sighting wave.
